Episode 275 – Porky’s

In this episode of the show we are starting our brand new miniseries of May 2026 (all under the umbrella of the Spring of Comedy) where we will be looking at 80s sex comedies. Therefore, it is only prudent to start at the beginning of the trend, so here we are discussing the 1981 Porky’s. Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about this movie being a coming-of-age nostalgic piece for Bob Clark himself, how the 50s perception of innocence is shattered by this movie and how it became a massive success of going all out when other movies feared to. We also talk about the mean-spiritedness of the film’s entire conceit, the need for a movie like this to at least have a likeable cast and how its sequels proved that the main piece of legacy of Porky’s is the image of a group of men running naked through public spaces.
