Episode 31 – Mission: Impossible 2

In this episode of the show we are talking about Mission: Impossible 2, perhaps the most maligned and underappreciated entry in this multibillion dollar franchise. Even though it became the biggest financial hit of its year, the John Woo-directed opus is looked down upon by fans the world over and in our discussion we are attempting to find out of there is any credence to this phenomenon. We talk at length about the film’s intricate and trouble production, Woo’s directorial style and whether Hollywood was simpatico with his way of doing things, the film’s convoluted plotting, over-the-top set pieces and much more. We also try to assess if this film was directly responsible for the franchise shifting more towards stunt-driven high octane action and away from Hitchcockian intrigue underpinning De Palma’s predecessor.

Tune in and enjoy!
